QSL Handling

SWISSLOG uses the field QSL-Action to control the handling of QSL cards. You can define a QSL policy. That means you can define rules which automatically set the QSL-Action based on the QSL status of the QSO.

When you add a QSO the QSL Rules defined in the Options dialog of the QSO-Entry window are applied
When you receive a QSL card you can set the QSL-Action automatically in the Register received QSL cards dialog
Two specialized functions are available for the QSL handling:
- the Register QSL-Cards dialog which allows you to quickly set the QSL-Received indicator (or eQSL received indicator).
- the Print the QSL-Card Wizard which assists you to select all QSOs that need printing.

But you can also perform the QSL handling with help of the normal logbook view and the QSO entry window.

Register QSL cards

To register the reception of QSL cards select Tools | Register QSL-Cards. This opens the following window:

The window is divided into two parts.

The upper part contains two pages; click their names to switch between them:
- the QSO Fields page which contains the search field and the most important QSO fields. You can also modify the fields with exception of the ones which belong to the PQTH/MYQTH Table (IOTA, Region, SubRegion. MyCall and MyQTH)
- the QSL-Rules page which allows you to define what happens when you set the QSL-received indicator
The lower part which contains a specialized logbook view and a detail view of the QSO (in the example above the detail view contains 1 QSO with 2E0KKM). NOTE for eQSL users: if you load a query containing the "eQSL received" field (as the Simple Logbook.spg shown in the above image), when you select a QSO in the logbook view which is confirmed by eQSL, the following button appears in the upper buttons bar: . Press it to display the eQSL Card in the eQSL Card viewer window (internet connection is required).

Rules-Setup

Select the QSL-Rules page to set the rules.

You can set the following options on this page:

Refresh Automatically

If this option is checked the view is automatically refreshed every time a value of the QSO is modified. This may result in unacceptable response times if your log contains many QSOs. If this is the case then turn this option off and use the refresh button to refresh the view on demand.

Automatically set the QSL-Action to:

Select this option if you want to set the QSL-Action to the value selected in the drop-down list if the QSL-Received indicator is set.

Automatically add to Group:

When this check-box is selected the QSO is automatically added to the QSO-Group selected in the list-box below if the QSL-received is set and the QSL-sent is not set. Please read the section about QSO-Groups for details about QSO-Groups.

Select the QSO for which you received a QSL-Card

Select the QSL-Fields page.

All functions available in the Logbook View are also available here.
You can use the Incremental Search or the Filter function the of the logbook view to search for the QSO

Search the QSO by Call using the incremental search:

Sort by callsign by clicking on the Callsign header. You should see the up arrow in the header (this is the default sort order)
Select the the column that will be searched. By default it is the Callsign column To change the search column click in the column and select Set Search-Field to from the Functions or Pop-up menu. The search field on the QSO Fields page should now display the name of the selected search field.
Start entering the search argument of the QSO. The view will now incrementally step to the first QSO which matches the part of the field value you already entered.

Set the QSL-received indicator

You can set the QSL-received indicator in the following ways:

Left-click in the QSL-received check-box on the QSO Fields page.
Press F5.
Double click on the QSO line

You can also edit the QSO in the QSO Entry window. Press the Edit selected Record speed button.
