Swisslog freezes if a non-valid locator is entered. - JW6VDA - 24-06-2026

If an invalid qth locator is entered, Swisslog is freezing up. Pressing OK in the error medsage does not close it, so Swisslog remains open and unresponsive. I happen to open the task manager on the same screen that Swisslog occupies, but Swisslog stays in the way, so the only way to resolve this is a full restart of the computer.

I am sure Jordi will fix it. It is an interesting report Tom because just today I inadvertently tried to enter an invalid locator. But Swisslog prevented the mistake with a warning message.

Thank you, Jordi!
As for the point of the wrong QTH locator, I see that the warning message is completely gone in the Beta version. But it is actually a useful feature, when the "QTH-Locator is invalid" error message isn't showing up continously, so I hope it will be back in some form.

The reason this error showed up on my computer in the first place is that sometimes Swisslog doesn't copy the QTH-locator from the callbook (QRZ) lookup, even though it is indicated and shows correctly in the Callbook locator field, so I need to fill it in manually. I do not know how this is triggered, but I will try to make a note when and if it happens again.

It happened on several occasions, and if I remember correctly, it was when  I missed the third or fourth character of the locator. It’s the keyboard of my laptop that has started acting up, so when I press the «7» key, the character 7 doesn’t show up….

Hi Tom,

The error message is not gone at all! it's triggered once but not entering in a loop as previously. I don't know why you don't get any error message. I always get an error message when the QTH locator is wrong. You should see the error message, QTH locator becomes empty and the QTH locator field focused.
