Swisslog 5.8 - AB4Q - 07-11-2013

Jordi, thanks for your instructions. I download v 5.2 from the link and did everything as you recommend, but the same thing happen. Evidently there is a problem with the computer, but I have no idea of what could be. Any suggestions? Carlos AB4Q

Hi Carlos,

Based on my own experience first of all you must have updated the operating system applying all the patches via Windows Update.

If the installation crashes you should check the TMP variable in the OS properties to see if that location exists. If the Temp folder defined in the operating system is not found many program installers may crash during installation with no error message.

To check the Tmp variables of the operating system right click on My Computer icon and select Properties. Then go to Advanced Options and press the Environment Variables button left below under section Start and recover (or something like that. I own the Spanish version of Windows and I,m doing a free translation into English that may differ from the original words).

Check the value for TMP and TEMP variables and search if that location exists and you have full access (writing/reading).

If everything is ok I would recommend you to reinstall Windows and install all the updates. Apart from the explained above I don,t know any other logical reason for this problem.

RE: Swisslog 5.8 - AB4Q - 24-11-2013

Jodi, I need your help again. I try to control the rotor with Swisslog. If you pick RC-2800 nothing happen. the box I have is RC2800PX-AZ. If you pick OR2800PDC. Which is the rotor itself. It will show the position of the antenna, 90 or 30 degrees in a correct way, but you can't rotate the antenna. I put the baud rate, bits etc, but I don't know the setting for the flow control, I have tried several combinations but they don't work. As you know windows 8.! does not have Hyper Terminal. Do I need it? I can get it from the Windows 2003 Server. Please, help me.
Thanks again,
Carlos AB4Q

Hello Carlos:

Thank you for your report about windows 8.1 installation... I will try to test in another computer to see if I have to install it under compatibility mode too...

Regarding the rotator settings I'm not able to give you extra help! The most important data in the communication port settings are baud rate, and start and stop bits. If you can read the beam direction it seems that there is communication from the rotator. Look at the rotator manual to see the port settings parameters. Maybe you will have to test several flow control values... check the Start automatically box so that the rotator interface starts automatically whenever you start Swisslog.

Read this documentation regarding the rotator interface setting in Swisslog: http://www.swisslogforwindows.com/english/Help/Features/Rotor%20Interface.htm

Let me know if you achieve it!
